Great Lakes Storm News Release

Birch Run, MI (November 20, 2004) – The Great Lakes Storm won the game tonight against the visiting Michigan Mayhem 94-70 (7, 0). They were able to get the rare sweep as they took all seven quarter points and moved to 2-0 on the young season.

For the second straight night the Storm took care of business against their new interstate rival. Despite injuries to key players in last nights game in Muskegon, Ezra Williams had another brilliant game and would not allow the Mayhem to get their first win ever. Imari Sawyer, Willie Simms, and Jackie Butler all sat out with injuries. Williams finished the game with 24 points and seven rebounds. The game was close in the first quarter as teams traded baskets and the Storm finally gained a 10 point lead after one. The Storm was able to maintain the lead in the second quarter and pushed their lead to 18 by the intermission. Reggie Butler made a big basket with the clock running down at the end of the third quarter to win the third quarter 21-19 and push the lead to 20. It was much of the same in the fourth as the storm pulled ahead for an easy victory.

The Storm's next game is on Wednesday, November 24th against the Gary Steelheads. Tip-off is set for 7:05 at the Birch Run Expo Center.
