Storm Topple Titans

May 10, 2014 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release

It was a showdown of the top two teams in the United Conference Saturday night, and it was a close game from start to finish, but the Sioux Falls Storm pulled out the win prevailing 48-36 over the Cedar Rapid Titans.

The Storm are chasing perfection once again this season as they improve to 9-0 on the season while the Cedar Rapid Titans drop their second game of the season, the first since week 1 to fall to 8-2.

Another Storm win, another big night for Storm quarterback Chris Dixon. Dixon threw for 153 yards while completing 15 of 22 of his attempts and added another four touchdowns, with the dagger in the fourth quarter. Dixon connected with Judd Harrold on a 38-yard toss to make it a two-touchdown lead.

Jonathon Setzer had a big play in the first quarter. Backed into the Storm endzone end zone, Setzer made a diving interception and returned it 49 yards for the touchdown.

Tyler Knight and James Dunlap led the defensive charge; collecting seven tackles a piece. The Storm brought excellent pressure to the Titans quarterback all game, collecting two sacks, and making the pocket uncomfortable throughout night.

The Storm will be back at the Shelter next week Saturday, May 17th. They will play host to the Bemidji Axemen. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
