Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The winner of the game will play in "United Bowl II" for the UIF Championship next weekend. Kickoff for this Sunday's game is 3:05 PM and will be broadcast on radio on 1320 KELO AM and on television on UTV. This game will be the second meeting between the teams this season as the Storm defeated Evansville 33-26 in the final regular season game of the year.
Sioux Falls (15-0) earned a bye in the first-round of the UIF Playoffs, but found some time to create headlines as the Storm hauled in numerous individual honors as the UIF handed out their postseason awards. Quarterback Terrance Bryant took home the league's MVP award, defensive lineman Nate Fluit won the league Defensive Player of the Year honor and Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs was awarded the UIF Coach of the Year honor. Sioux Falls had a total of seven players on the UIF First or Second Team of All-Stars including Fluit, center John Semchenko, and Mark Blackburn on the First-Team.
Evansville's playoff run got off to a good start last week as the BlueCats held Omaha scoreless in the 2nd half on their way to a dominating 37-15 win over the Beef. Evansville looked like a crafty veteran playoff team as they had a TD in every quarter, including two in the first. Aaron Leak has one of his best performances all season long as he threw for 222-yards and completed 11 of his 25 pass attempts for four touchdowns. Leading his air assault was newcomer, Tommy Manus, who had 5 catches for 98-yards and two touchdowns. Levandar Segars and Tyrone Walker each had one TD catch as well.
Defensively for the BlueCats, they were without stud linebacker, John Winchester. Winchester was hurt during Week 16 against the Storm and will have to sit the rest of the season. Picking up his slack was Tarron Acuff who had 7 solo tackles, 2 assisted, two pass break-ups and one interception that he returned for six yards. The BlueCats only allowed 155 yards of total offense in the franchises first ever playoff victory. The BlueCats defense is tied for second in the league in takeaways with 35 and is second in the UIF in interceptions with 22.
The Storm will open their run to United Bowl II on Sunday, July 23 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Kickoff for the game is schedule for 3:05 PM. A limited number of tickets remain for the game. Tickets are available by stopping by the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office. Fans can also be purchase tickets at any Ticketmaster outlet or online at ticketmaster.com.
