#3 ROCK RIVER RAPTORS (12-4), at #2 LEXINGTON HORSEMEN (13-2) - Rock River escaped a late Sioux City drive in the final seconds of the game to secure a first-round victory at home. The Raptors quarterback combination of Ben Sankey and Ryan Aulenbacher threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Rock River will be in good shape if Aulenbacher has to start as he has proven himself to be the best back-up QB in the UIF this season as he has thrown for 640 yards and 11 touchdowns. Aulenbacher was named UIF Offensive Player of the Week in Week 8 for his five-touchdown performance vs. Fort Wayne. Lexington's defense will need to figure out the Raptors as Lexington allowed 62 and 55 points in their losses to the Raptors this season. The Horsemen defense allowed an average of 35.0 points per game, which ranked 4th in the UIF. Lexington led the UIF with six First-Team All-Stars. William Mulder was award the UIF's Special Teams Player of the Year. Game time is slated for 7:30 pm EST at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY on Saturday, July 22.
#5 EVANSVILLE BLUECATS (8-8), at SIOUX FALLS STORM (15-0) - Evansville's playoff run got off to a good start last week as the BlueCats held Omaha scoreless in the 2nd half on their way to a dominating 37-15 win over the Beef. The BlueCats only allowed 155 yards of total offense in the franchises first ever playoff victory. The BlueCats defense is tied for second in the league in takeaways with 35 and is second in the UIF in interceptions with 22. During their bye week, Sioux Falls took some time to gather post-season awards. Quarterback Terrance Bryant took home the league's MVP award, defensive lineman Nate Fluit won the league Defensive Player of the Year honor, RB Marques Smith received the Most Improved Player award and Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs was awarded the UIF Coach of the Year. Sioux Falls had a total of seven players on the UIF First and Second Team of All-Stars. Kick-off will be at 3:05 pm CST on Sunday, July 23 at the Sioux Falls Arena, the "Storm Shelter."
