Island Storm News Release
(Charlottetown, PE) Sometimes games don't live up to their hype. That wasn't the case Friday night at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown as the Island STORM and the Windsor Express slugged it out through regulation time and one overtime period before the STORM came away with a 111-108 win.
With the win the STORM take over top spot in the NBL Canada with a 15-6 record while the Express fall to 13-6. It is the first time ever the STORM has had the overall NBL lead. The win also keeps the STORMS second longest win streak alive at 8 games with a chance to tie the franchise record of 9 straight Sunday afternoon in Halifax.
Brandon Robinson scored a game high 34 points for the STORM in a line that also included 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 17 for 20 from the foul line and 62% from the field. Mike Martin scored 20, including a huge 3 point shot in overtime. Martin was 7 for 11 from the field including 3 for 4 from behind the arc. Nick Evans had another solid outing for the STORM with a double-double of 17 points and 12 assists.
Tony Bennett scored 30 to lead Windsor while Quinnel Brown scored 26 and pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double.
The STORM has a day of rest but then hit the road Sunday for a game in Halifax against the Rainmen at 2pm. The STORM play at home next on Sunday January 25th when the Moncton Miracles visit Eastlink Centre for a 2pm starter.
