Sioux Falls Storm News Release
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm are excited to announce the signing of running back Nate Chavious for the 2022 season.
Chavious (5'11, 215) will return for his second season with the Storm. He earned Special Teams Player of the Year in 2021 after he amassed 1,239 return yards to lead the IFL and took three kickoffs back for touchdowns, which tied for the league lead. Chavious was a multi-faceted player for the Storm in 2021, returning kickoffs and shouldering the load at the running back position. He was the only player in the IFL to earn First Team All-IFL honors at two different positions, running back and kick returner. In 13 regular season games, Chavious rushed 120 times for 547 yards, which ranked third in the IFL and first among running backs, finding the end zone 19 times on the ground.
He played collegiately at Sacred Heart University where he totaled 3,715 all-purpose yards and averaging 5.5 yards per carry. He sits second in school history for yards, carries, and was a two-time NEC (Northeast Conference) Champion.
"Getting Nate back for another season is a surprise, because he really should be playing at a higher level. Nate goes beyond what anyone who wants to be a professional should be doing," said Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs. "One of the hardest working individuals I have been around. Nate will be a leader and key component of our offense and special teams. We are excited to see him excel and put up even better numbers than last season."
