Chicago Storm News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Dec. 11, 2008) - The Chicago Storm professional indoor soccer team announces the signing of midfielder/forward Kyle Lance to a three-game, 15-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the player agreement are not disclosed.

Lance is filling the Storm's 15-man roster because Argentinean defender Gabriel Cigliano currently is inactive. Lance will wear No. 19 when the Storm open their fifth season of professional indoor soccer this Sunday. Chicago travels to New Jersey for a 3 p.m. (CST) match against the Ironmen at the Prudential Center, marking both teams' debut in the brand-new Xtreme Soccer League.

"We've been impressed with Kyle for a couple weeks now through the invitational tryouts and training camp, and he showed he's very capable at this level," Storm head coach Steve Morris said. "We're excited to give him the opportunity, and we're looking forward to seeing how he performs."

The 26-year-old Lance played for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2000 to 2003 and was teammates with Storm defender Chris Brisson. In 2003, Lance was named to the Horizon League First Team and the All-Horizon League Tournament Team.

"I've known Kyle for a long time, as well. Spending time in Milwaukee, I've been acquainted with the players locally there," Morris said. "He was a standout player in college and could have pursued this a few years earlier. But he put that on hold to pursue other avenues."

The Chicago Storm organization enters its fifth season of professional indoor soccer. Chicago's 2008-2009 Xtreme Soccer League season kicks off with a road game at New Jersey on Sunday, Dec. 14, and the Storm's home opener takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, against Milwaukee at the Sears Centre Arena. Storm offices are located at 5333 Prairie Stone Pkwy., in Hoffman Estates.
