SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm faced the Nebraska Danger on Saturday, May 12 in a week 12 battle. The Storm moved to 7-3 after defeating the Danger 40-36.
The Storm took an early 6-0 lead after a six-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Damien Ford. The Danger would take a 6-7 lead after a one-yard rushing touchdown by Angelo Pease. The Storm responded with back-to-back touchdowns to take a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter; the first touchdown was a 24-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Judd Harrold and then a 14 yard pass from Lorenzo Brown to Damien Ford.
Sioux Falls extended their lead to 23-7 latch-key in the second quarter after a 34-yard field goal by Miles Bergner. Nebraska answered back with a six-yard from Gregory Hankerson to Eric Thomas to bring the score to 23-14. The Storm would end the half with a 26-14 lead after a 25-yard field goal by Miles Bergner.
Nebraska would cut the Storm's lead to 26-21 in the third quarter after a 25-yard pass from Gregory Hankerson to Gregory Dent. Sioux Falls ended the quarter with a four-yard rushing touchdown by Lyle McCombs, extending their lead to 33-21.
The Danger would cut the Storm's lead to 33-28 early in the fourth quarter after a nine-yard touchdown reception by Angelo Pease from Gregory Hankerson. The Storm answered with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Mike Tatum, bringing the score to 40-28. The Danger would end the game with a final score of 40-36 after a five-yard touchdown pass by Gregory Hankerson to Angelo Pease.
Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed 15 out of 21 passes while throwing 156 yards and three touchdowns, he also had 50 rushing yards. Running back Lyle McCombs had 39 yards and one touchdown. Wide receivers Judd Harrold reeled in three receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown while Damien Ford had two touchdowns and 28 reception yards. Defensive backs Lorenzo White had six tackles, one forced fumble and one interception and Jabari Gorman had four pass break-ups.
The Sioux Falls Storm (7-3) will face the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-9) on Friday, May 18th for a week 13 battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05pm in Cedar Rapids.
