Storm Roll past Bucks

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm moved to 5-1 on Saturday, April 6 after defeating the Bismarck Bucks by 64-31.

The Bucks started the first quarter with an early 0-7 lead after a 20-yard touchdown pass by Homer Causey to Frederick Abraham. The Storm would answer back with back to back scores to end the quarter with a score of 14-7; the first score was a 31-yard touchdown pass to Damian Ford from Lorenzo Brown and then a 28-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Kent Shelby.

The Bucks were the first to score in the second quarter after a nine-yard touchdown pass by John Gibbs to Brandynn Clark. The Bucks extra point was blocked by Claude Davis and returned for a defensive PAT by Malcolm Goines, putting the Storm up 16-13. The Storm answered with a 30-yard touchdown by Lorenzo Brown to Damian Ford, extending the Storm's lead to 23-13. The Bucks would cut the lead to 23-19 after a 26-yard touchdown pass by John Gibbs to Brandynn Clark. The Storm ended the half with a 30-19 lead after a three-yard rushing touchdown by Calen Campbell.

The Storm would take control of the game in the third quarter after scoring four touchdowns to put them up 56-19. The first touchdown was a three-yard rushing touchdown by Calen Campbell, then a 45-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Brandon Sheperd, then a 33-yard rushing touchdown by Calen Campbell and the last to end the quarter was a 38-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Kent Shelby.

The Bucks began the fourth quarter with a two-yard touchdown pass by Homer Causey to Brandynn Clark, cutting the lead to 56-25. The Storm answered with a ten-yard rushing touchdown by Calen Campbell to bring the score to 64-25 after a successful two-point conversion by Tra'Von Chapman. The Bucks would end the game with a nine-yard rushing touchdown by Preston Hamlette to bring the final score to 64-31.

Quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed nine passes for 213 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Calen Campbell tallied 110 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receivers Kent Shelby had 88 yards for two touchdowns, Brandon Sheperd had 75 yards and one touchdown while Damian Ford had 64 yards and two touchdowns. Kicker Miles Bergner was perfect for the night, making all six extra points. Defensive back Matt McKoy lead the Thunder Defense with nine tackles. Defensive backs Michael Minter Jr. had one pass break-up while Rick Rumph had one interception.

The Sioux Falls Storm have a bye during week eight. The Storm return to action at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Saturday, April 20th for a 7:05 PM kickoff against the Iowa Barnstormers.
