Great Lakes Storm News Release
Birch Run, MI (February 22, 2005) â The Great Lakes Storm announced today that they have re-signed forward Jamel Gooding. Per club rules, terms of the contract are confidential.
Gooding returns to the same team that released him back on January 26. In 23 games (seven starts) with the Storm this season, he is averaging 5.2 points per game along with 3.9 rebounds. He had a season-high in both categories against the Idaho Stampede back on November 27 as he posted 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bringing in a familiar player was important as the Storm's roster has been trimmed by recent injuries and a suspension. All-Stars Mark Jones (groin) and Kasib Powell (ankle) were put on the injured list due to injuries sustained in last Wednesday nights game against the Michigan Mayhem. In addition, Doug Smith will sit out the next two games to complete his four-game suspension; however, he will be eligible for the two games in Yakima on Friday and Saturday.
