Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) is pleased to officially announce the re-signing of head coach Mike Aldrich, along with the rest of the coaching staff.
"I couldn't be happier to be back with the Storm for the 2003 season," said head coach Mike Aldrich. "We have done some great things over the past few seasons, but there is still one goal out there for this team to achieve, and we are going to put all of our attention and effort towards winning a championship," Aldrich has an overall head coaching record of 18-15; the last two seasons as the head coach of the Storm (16-14) and the last three games of the 2000 season as the head coach of the Sioux Falls Cobras (2-1) of the former Indoor Football League (IFL).
Aldrich was the secondary coach and assistant special teams coordinator for Augustana College (S.D.) this past fall. The NCAA Division II Vikings finished the season with a record of 7-4 and a top ten finish in the regional rankings. Three of Aldrich's players earned All-conference (North Central Conference) honors, while one player topped the conference in interceptions and another was listed on the All-region (Division II Midwest Region) team.
The Storm also re-signed Kurtiss Riggs, offensive coordinator; Scott Dorman, defensive line coach and director of scouting; and Shawn Bryant, offensive line coach. Mike Michaeli, Jason Schwab and Rich Wirkus will also assist the coaching staff this season. Bob Hall will again be the organization's equipment manager. "We have put together a great staff," Aldrich said. "Our core staff has been together for four years, making us one of the most consistent and stable staffs in the league," Aldrich continued.
The Storm finished the 2002 season with a record of 8-6, but failed to make the NIFL playoffs. Sioux Falls finished the 2001 season as the Pacific Conference runner-ups with a record of 8-8.
