Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the re-signing of defensive end Nate Fluit for the 2007 season. In 2006, Fluit was named the UIF's Defensive Player of the Year after helping the Storm defense set numerous league records. The Storm defense set UIF records in least points allowed in a season (384), least rushing yards allowed in a season (820), and largest turnover margin in league history with a +18.

Fluit will be playing in his fifth season of indoor football, coming off of a record-setting year in 2006. Fluit set a Storm and UIF record for most sacks in one season with 15.5. The Augustana College alum is the Storm's all-time sack leader 46. He is a full 21.5 sacks ahead of Austin Flyger on the all-time sack list. The 2006 All-UIF First Team selection also recorded 64 tackles in 2006 with 24.5 of those resulting in lost yards for the opposing team, which is also a UIF record.

During Fluit's first season with the Storm in 2003, he set the previous Storm single season sack record as he tallied 15. Following that season, Fluit was named National Indoor Football League Defensive Player of the Year. He followed that season with 11 sacks and 47.5 tackles in 2004. In 2005, Fluit recorded 43.5 tackles and 4.5 sacks, but was nagged by injuries during the season.

Storm President Colin Steen says, "This is a huge signing for us and really solidifies our defense. Nate leads by example and won't be outworked by anyone, which rubs off our entire team."

Training camp gets underway on Friday, March 9 as the Storm prepare for their first game at Rock River on March 24. See a full schedule by logging on to www.siouxfallsstorm.com.
