Storm Move into First Place Tie in Atlantic with Win in Halifax

(Charlottetown, PE) It didn't seem that long ago the STORM was halfway through a 7 game road trip in the NBL Canada with a 1-4 record. But 3 straight road wins and the STORM are now tied on top of the Atlantic Division standings with Saint John and Halifax.

The latest road win came Saturday night in Halifax as the STORM used great shooting and great balance to beat the Rainmen 109-97 at Scotiabank Centre.

The STORM, as a team, shot 51% from the floor and 43% from the 3 point line while 6 players scored in double figures. Brandon Robinson had a nice line on the night with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Rashad Whack had his best game in a STORM uniform with 17 points while playing over 30 minutes. Nick Evans was a force coming off the bench scoring 16 points on 72% shooting to go along with 5 rebounds. Mike Williams and Sammy Zeglinski each had 14 points while Louis Birdsong scored 10. The STORM also out rebounded the Rainmen 45-32 in the game. The STORM led 51-42 at the half.

The STORM is now tied for 1st in the Atlantic with a 4-4 record with Saint John, also 4-4, and Halifax at 3-3. Moncton is in last place in the division at 1-7.

The Island STORM now have a chance to take over sole possession of 1st in the Atlantic Division as they host the Saint John Mill Rats Sunday afternoon at Eastlink Centre at 2 o'clock.

The game Sunday afternoon is also Souris day with the Mayor of the Town of Souris, Dave MacDonald, tossing up the ceremonial tip, Souris High Schools' Camden Jenkins will sing the National Anthem, and Randy Antle, Marcus Cahill, Emily Ching and Brittany Blackett of the Souris Spartans High School boys and girls teams will be warming up with the STORM during the pre-game.

STORM season tickets are still on sale at the Eastlink Centre Box Office and anyone who purchased a single game ticket for the home opener can use the cost of that ticket toward the purchase of a season ticket for the final home games.

The STORM also has a merchandise corner at Sherwood BMR on Mount Edward Road in Charlottetown with a great selection of STORM Gear. Fans may purchase STORM Gear at Sherwood BMR to get ready for the next home game or for Christmas gift buying.
