Tampa Bay Storm News Release
Orlando, FL - The Tampa Bay Storm (3-3, 1-3) was defeated by the Orlando Predators (4-2, 2-1) Saturday evening by a score of 77-65. The game saw the return of former Storm ironman, T.T. Toliver. This was also the 54th meeting between the two teams, with the Predators now holding a 28-26 advantage.
The Storm offense failed to score on its opening drive resulting in a 14-point swing, with the Predators going up 14-0. But that would all change on Tampa Bay's next possession. The team methodically moved the ball down the field with the score coming on a 31-yard pass to Joe Hills. Both the Storm and Predators would trade scores in the first half, with Orlando leading by a score of 41-32 entering the third quarter.
The second half saw the Storm offense come alive as the team scored on an 11-yard reception by Dexter Jackson on the opening drive bringing the score to within 2 points. It was his only score of the night. The Storm offense was led by Randy Hippeard. Hippeard found all of his receivers but his top target was Toliver. Toliver finished the night with 12 receptions for 136 yards and five touchdowns. Hippeard would complete 31-of-43 passes for 380 yards and nine touchdowns.
However, the game turned on an onside kick recovered by the Predators late in the third quarter. Orlando would score, putting the Storm into a 15-point hole. The Orlando defense would then turn up the pressure forcing Hippeard into throwing an interception. The Preds would score on the next possession putting Orlando up 22 points.
The Orlando offense was led by Jason Boltus. He finished the night completing 21-of-27 passes for 365 yards and nine touchdowns. His preferred target of the night was Greg Carr. Carr finished with seven receptions for 145 yards and four touchdowns.
UP NEXT - The Storm will host the Spokane Shock on "Youth Sports Night" on AMALIE Motor Oil Field at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Saturday, April 26. The game can be seen on CBS Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
