Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will look for their 23rd consecutive victory on Friday night in Sioux City, IA. The Storm will take the field against the Bandits (0-1) at 7:05 PM at the Tyson Events Center. This will be the first of three meetings between the teams during the 2007 season. The game can be heard LIVE on 1230 AM KWSN or by logging on to www.siouxfallsstorm.com and clicking on "Listen LIVE." The Storm has won five consecutive meetings with the Bandits including a victory in United Bowl I in Sioux City.
The Storm survived an exhilarating shoot out in Billings, MT last Saturday. The Outlaws nearly ended the Storm's astounding winning streak, but it was the Storm who came out on top for the 22nd straight time. Terrance Bryant finished the game throwing for 235 yards and 2 touchdown passes on 31 pass attempts. Bryant surpassed the 15,000 passing yard mark for his career as he now has 15,027 for his seven-year indoor career. Running back Marques Smith added three rushing touchdowns and wide receiver Allen Burrell set career highs with seven receptions for 111 yards. After finishing 2006 ranked #1 in points allowed and #2 in yards allowed, the Storm defense is entering Week 3 ranked 7th in points allowed and 10th in yards allowed. The defense will look to get back to their dominating ways against Sioux City, who only put up 26 points in a losing effort vs. Omaha in week 1.
The Bandits suffered a loss at home vs. Omaha during the opening week. Sioux City struggled in the rushing department as they only gained 29 yards on the ground in Week 1. The Bandits enter this week under new leadership as Head Coach Richard Britt abruptly resigned earlier this week. Assistant coach Roger Jansen was named Interim Head Coach and will take the reins for this week's game. The Bandits are led offensively by quarterback Brent Rawls who went 16-of-40 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to Omaha.
The Storm play the last of four straight road games next week when they travel to Omaha to take on the Beef. Be part of the Storm Chasers Bus Trip to Omaha April 14.
