Storm look for momentum going into All-Star weekend

Anaheim, CA (February 20, 2004) - The Anaheim Storm play the Arizona Sting on Saturday at the Glendale Arena. The Storm are hopeful that they put the past games behind them and earn their first win in 2004.

The Anaheim Storm (0-5) will face the Arizona Sting (3-4) for the second time this season. On January 10th, the Storm lost their home opener to the Sting, 19-18, in triple overtime; the game stands as the longest in National Lacrosse League history. Arizona currently sits in the middle of the Western Conference, trailing the Colorado Mammoth by 2.5 games.

In their first showdown at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, the Storm were led by Team Captain Casey Powell (4G, 2A), Scott Stewart (3G, 2A) and Marc Morley (4G, 1A). The Sting were led by Pat Maddalena (5G, 3A) and Cory Bomberry (4G, 4A), while Peter Lough scored the winning goal, 45 seconds into the third overtime. The Sting are coming off a 16-12 loss to the Philadelphia Wings this past Saturday.

Also Saturday, the Storm were defeated by the Buffalo Bandits, 13-11 in New York.

In addition to the game against Arizona, Team Captain Casey Powell and forward Michael Law will be representing the Anaheim Storm as reserves in the 2004 NLL All-Star game. The game will feature the All-Stars of the East Division against the All-Stars of West Division on Sunday, February 22 at Pepsi Center in Denver, home of the Colorado Mammoth. The reserves are chosen by the coaches of each All-Star team. The starting Forwards are Gavin Prout (Colorado), Gary Gait (Colorado) and Tracey Kelusky (Calgary).
