Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the re-signing of running back Marques Smith and offensive lineman Osaro Kyles. Both players played critical roles in the Storm's run to the UIF championship in 2006.
Smith started 16 games in 2006, missing only United Bowl because of an injury. Smith finished 2006 by posting the second most rushing yards in a season in Storm history. Smith ran for 720 yards and scored 15 touchdowns while leading the rushing attack. The former Dakota Wesleyan University standout is entering his fourth season for the Storm and is only 388 rushing yards away from being the Storm's all-time leader. Smith has rushed for 1,000 yards and will look to surpass Justin Bivins in career rushing yards during 2007. Smith holds the UIF record for most touchdowns in one game as he scored six times during a 2005 game vs. Black Hills.
Kyles is also a former Dakota Wesleyan University athlete who started 12 games for the Storm in 2006. Kyles helped anchor an offensive line that only allowed 10 sacks in 17 games during the 2006 season. The offensive line was a key component to the Storm's offensive success as the offense scored the second most points in the UIF and averaged 231 yards per game. Kyles will be entering his third season for the Storm and should be key to the Storm's success in 2007.
Season tickets for the 2007 season are on sale now. Call the Storm office at 332-4225 to reserve your seats for 'The Greatest Show in Town" as the Storm look for three championships in a row in 2007.
