EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are pleased to announce that six more players have signed contracts to play with the BlueCats next season. Three players are indoor football veterans and the other three will be making their professional indoor football debut this season. The players include Joel Stubblefield, Michael Cosey, James Booker Jr., Larry "Choo Choo" Davis, Jason Jackson, and Mike Pozzi.

Returning for his third season with the BlueCats is Joel Stubblefield. In 2006, Stubblefield tallied 44 tackles including 13.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks on his way to earning UIF Most Improved Player "Honorable Mention" honors. Stubblefield played on both the offensive and defensive lines in 2005 and has seen action at fullback in short yardage situations. Joel is a native of Pendleton, Indiana, and played defensive end for the Indiana Hoosiers as a true freshman before transferring to Indiana State where he saw action on both the offensive and defensive line.

Two of the BlueCats signings were offered contracts after their performance at the BlueCats Open Player Tryout in January. Michael Cosey and James Booker Jr. attended the tryout. Cosey previously played for the BlueCats back in 2003 and 2004 and still holds some team rushing records from the 2004 season. Cosey holds the BlueCats single season records for rushing (732 yards) and touchdowns (28). James Booker Jr. is a 6'3" 250 pound Athlete who impressed the coaching staff with his combination of size and speed.

Larry "Choo Choo" Davis played defensive back for Morgan State and was a college teammate of current BlueCats wide receiver Tommy Manus and lineman Dunneille Anderson. As a senior in 2005, Davis finished the season with 96 tackles (2nd on the team) and 11 tackles for loss from his strong safety position. He also had 2 interceptions. He led the team with 5 interceptions as a junior and as a sophomore, giving him 12 interceptions for his college career. Davis earned All-MEAC First Team honors as a junior and All-MEAC Second Team honors as a senior. Originally from Newport News, Virginia, he played linebacker and wide receiver in high school earning first team All-State and All-District, winning the state championship with a 14-0 record as a senior and a 30-4 overall record in 3 seasons of high school football. He was named 2005 Defensive Team MVP at Morgan State.

Also joining Manus, Anderson, and Davis from Morgan State University is running back Jason Jackson. Jackson was named the 2005 Offensive Team MVP at Morgan State and led the team with 667 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns as a senior. He averaged 4.8 yards per carry in 2005, and had a 90-yard long touchdown run. As a junior, he rushed for 1,190 yards, a 5.9 yards per carry average, a 57-yard long, and 9 touchdowns.

The final player signed is quarterback Mike Pozzi, who previously spent the 2005 season as the BlueCats backup quarterback. He played college football for Kansas Weselyan in Salina, Kansas.
