Chicago Storm News Release
CHICAGO, IL - In today's 2007 Major Indoor Soccer League's Amateur Draft, the Chicago Storm drafted Indiana University defender Julian Dieterle with the fourth pick overall in the territorial round, St. Louis University defender Mo Benne in the second round and Notre Dame midfielder/forward Ian Etherington in the third round. Chicago's first round pick went to the California Cougars and the Storm's fourth round pick went to the Detroit Ignition. Both moves were parts of earlier trades in the season.
Chicago Storm first year head coach Steve Morris enjoyed his first MISL Draft. "For my first draft as a head coach, I'm pleased considering our limitations that we were able to get three outstanding young players and young men." Morris continued, "In Julian Dieterle we get a local player who is tough and tenacious who plays with physicality far greater than his 5'9" stature. He's a leader and a competitor. In Mo Benne we get a big physical rugged defender that has outstanding speed and quickness. We hope he is a defender we can count on for years to come." Morris talked about Etherington as well, "Ian is currently overseas on trials in Europe right now. He's a gifted technical player who has the ability to beat defenders 1 v. 1."
