Storm Get Doubled Up On For Game Two Against Rawhide

April 18, 2024 - California League (CalL)
Lake Elsinore Storm News Release

After averaging nine runs per game in their first four games played at home this season, the Lake Elsinore Storm dropped their second game of the homestand 10-5 against the Visalia Rawhide tonight. In yet another three-hour affair, the Storm never quite got their footing in their quest for a record above .500. Jose Luis Reyes would get through the first inning in just four at bats, however, the second inning was a much different story. Reyes would see 9 batters, throw three wild pitches, allow four hits, and walk two batters as he allowed four runs in the frame. However, the Storm bats would pick him up in the bottom of that very same inning and in a very similar fashion. The Storm would score five runs on three singles, a walk, and a groundout. Giving them the first lead of the night. This too would be short-lived, however. After a groundout, Druw Jones would hit a triple and Reyes would Jakey Josepha to push Reyes from the game. Kobe Robinson would enter and immediately throw a wild pitch to even the score at 5-5. He would then allow three more runs to score, pushing Reyes total to six earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched and giving himself two earned runs, the first two he has allowed this season. The Storm would fail to match their season average at home, not bringing another run across the plate despite the 12 walks they would combine for this season. Jay Beshears would walk twice, increasing his season total to 15 which leads the league and is second in all of Single-A.
