
Storm Falls To Barnstormers

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm fall to 6-3 after a 49-42 loss at home against the Iowa Barnstormers. This is the first time the Barnstormers have beat the Storm since joining the IFL in 2015.
The first quarter was owned by the Barnstormers with the only two touchdowns coming from Jamal Tyler, first a three yard rushing touchdown and then a 11-yard touchdown.
The second quarter would begin with a three-yard rushing touchdown by Drew Powell, giving the Barnstormers a 21-0 lead. The Storm would answer with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Lorenzo Brown. The Barnstormers responded with a 44-yard touchdown pass by Drew Powell to Brady Roland, extending the Barnstormers lead to 27-7. The Storm would score on three consecutive drive to end the half with a 27-23 deficit. The first score was a one-yard rushing touchdown by Lorenzo Brown, then the Thunder Defense came up with a safety and then Lyle McCombs had a one-yard rushing touchdown.
The third quarter started with a two-yard quarterback keeper by Dillion Turner which gave the Storm their first lead of the night. Drew Powell answered with a 27-yard rushing touchdown to give the Barnstormers a 33-29 at the end of the third quarter.
Sioux Falls would re-take the lead to start the fourth quarter after a 34-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Mike Tatum, bringing the score to 33-36. Iowa responded with back to back touchdowns to give them a 46-36 lead; the first touchdown was a 21-yard touchdown pass by Drew Powell to Ryan Balentine and then a eight-yard touchdown pass by Drew Powell to Sheldon Augustine. The Storm would cut the lead to 46-39 after a 39-yard field goal by Miles Bergner. But the Barnstormers would extend their lead to 49-39 after a 17-yard field goal by Cody Barber. The Storm would end the game will a 25-yard field goal by Miles Bergner which brought the score to 49-42.
Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed 9 of 21 passes for 124 yards for one touchdown and one interception, he also rushed nine times for 28 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Lyle McCombs finished with eight rushes for nine yards and one touchdown. Wide receivers Mike Tatum had three receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown. Defensive backs Jabari Gorman and Damond Smithhad seven total tackles while linebacker Dezmin Reed recorded one sack and one forced fumble. Defensive lineman had one pass brak-up and one block.
The Sioux Falls Storm face the Nebraska Danger in a week 12 battle on Saturday, May 12 for a 7:05pm kickoff.
