Rancho Cucamonga -Looking to stay atop the Southern Division in the California League, the Storm looked to capture game two of three in the series against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. The Storm ran into Los Angeles Dodger Juan Rivera who homered in the sixth giving the Quakes the lead and helped the home team to a 7-5 win.

The Storm jumped out to a 4-0 early lead beginning in the second when Luis Domoromo, Justin Miller, Chris Bisson, and Rico Noel hit consecutive singles to go ahead 2-0.

In the third Cory Spangenberg hit a leadoff infield single and slid into first to beat the ball to the bag to put a man on. After Tommy Medica walked, Spangenberg scored off Rymer Liriano's single to deep center field. With two outs Miller singled to third base allowing Liriano to score from third for two more runs.

In the bottom of the third it was all wiped away as the Quaked rattled off four runs with the small ball. A single, a walk and a hit by pitch loaded the bases before Joc Peterson singled to score two with no outs. Two more runs scored on groundouts by the Quakes.

In the sixth Rancho took the lead off one swing from Rivera's bat hitting a home run over the second centerfield wall. They tacked on another run when Bobby Coyle scored off a wild pitch to advance the league.

C.J. Retherford homered in the eighth to pick up another run for the Quakes.

Domoromo scored in the ninth after hitting a double to left field but the team fell short.

With the Storm loss the division leading High Desert Mavericks won putting the Storm a game back of the lead with a 28-26 record.

The rubber match between the Storm and the Quakes will be tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Storm will then return home this weekend to take on the North Division Visalia Rawhide starting on Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
