
Storm Exceeds $100,000 in 2016 Charitable Programs

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm has held numerous fundraisers to help a variety of worthwhile causes and charitable organizations throughout the Sioux Falls community. Late season projections will show the Storm as having raised and distributed well over $100,000 for the second season in a row. The Storm have raised approximately $102,428 following the completion of the 2016 regular season schedule while totaling $229,067 for the past two years.
A small sampling of the local groups the Storm has helped this current season include:
- BBQ Heaven-Champions That Care Benefit for Rebekah Spader raised over $6,000.
- Storm "Souper Bowl Party" along with the El Riad Shrine Mystic Brewers raised over $4,000 for Feeding South Dakota.
- Storm donations of game tickets and team apparel for silent auction gifts and raffle prizes were over $14,854 to help benefit local charity organizations.
- Cure SMA raised over $5,000 to help find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
- R.F. Pettigrew School Library donation was over $9,000.
- Nearly $12,000 was raised for the Feeding South Dakota BackPack Program along with several hundred pounds of non-perishable food items for Feeding South Dakota.
- Over $21,000 was raised for SURVIVEit, a Sioux Falls based online community of cancer survivors helping cancer patients all throughout the USA during Sack Cancer Night.
- Along with the El Riad Shrine, the Storm raised over $11,000 to help support the Shriners Hospitals for Children Patient Transportation Fund.
- The Storm, along with Coleman Heating & Air Conditioning and Waterbury Cooling and Heating helped raise nearly $19,000 in the second annual Chip In For Heroes golf tournament for Operation Homefront.
"Jim Loria, Director of Corporate Sales, deserves a lot of credit for his relentless effort in teaming up with local groups to make these benefits a success," stated Storm Owner Todd Tryon. "There is so much time, heart and effort that goes into each event and Jim has taken our charitable program to unseen levels"
As the season gets set to wind up, the Storm have plans to host several more cause-related fundraisers.
