SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm improve 3-1 after defeating the Green Bay Blizzard 39-23 on Saturday, March 24.
The game started slow after just one score in the first quarter which came when Miles Bergner hit a 29-yard field goal to end the first quarter.
The second quarter would be a back and forth battle; but Green Bay would be the first to score after a 11-yard run by Raymond Cotton giving the Blizzard a 3-7 lead. Sioux Falls would retake the lead after a one-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Lorenzo Brown. Green Bay responded with a 23-yard field goal by Jeff Budzien, bringing the score to 9-10. Sioux Falls answered back with a nine-yard run by Lorenzo Brown, ending the half with the Storm on top 16-10.
The Storm would extend their lead to 19-10 late in the third quarter after a 18-yard field goal by Miles Bergner. The Blizzard would answer with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Serge Trezy, ending the third quarter with a score of 19-17.
The Storm would score three consecutive touchdowns in the forth quarter to overtake the Blizzard. The first score came from Mike Tatum with a seven-yard rushing touchdown, then a 22-yard touchdown when Lorenzo Brown found Mike Tatum and then Lorenzo Brown hit Judd Harold for a 26-yard touchdown. The Blizzard would respond with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Christian Lemay bringing the final score to 39-23.
Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed eight out of 15 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns along with two rushing touchdowns. Storm running back Lyle McCombs had 44 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Wide Receivers Mike Tatum and Judd Harrold each tallied one touchdown. Defensive lineman Owen Williams had two sacks while Chris Martin blocked one field goal. Defensive back Jabari Gorman lead the defense with seven solo tackles.
The Sioux Falls Storm (3-1) return to action on April 7 for a week seven contest against the Nebraska Danger (3-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm in Grand Island.
