SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm improved to 10-2 after a dominating 60-7 victory over the San Diego Strike Force on Saturday, June 1 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
The Storm would shut out the Strike Force in the first quarter to take a 19-0 lead. The first score was a 13-yard touchdown run by Calen Campbell, then a 11-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Calen Campbell and to end the quarter a 40-yard touchdown run by Lorenzo Brown.
The Storm would take a 33-0 lead after scoring back to back touchdowns to start the second quarter; the first touchdown was a one-yard rushing touchdown by newcomer Nolan Saraceni and then a four-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Brandon Sheperd. The Strike Force got on the board after a two-yard rushing touchdown by Jihad Vercher, bringing the score to 33-7. The Storm would end the quarter with a 40-7 lead after a five-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Brandon Sheperd.
The Storm would shut out the Strike Force in the third and fourth quarter to take a 60-7 win. The first score was a five-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Kent Shelby and then a 23-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Tra'Von Chapman in the third quarter. Nolan Saraceni had a 16-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed eight passes for 79 yards and five touchdowns along with one interception. Brown also had 60 rushing yards and one touchdown. Running backs Calen Campbell had 38 yards for one touchdown along with 11 receiving yards for one touchdown and Nolan Saraceni had 40 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receivers Kent Shelby had 36 yards and one touchdown, Tra'Von Chapman had 21 yards for one touchdown along with 22 rushing yards and Brandon Sheperd had 21 yards and two touchdowns. Kicker Parker Douglass made six out of nine extra points. Defensive back Rick Rumph led the Thunder Defense with eight tackles and one interception. The defense racked up nine sacks coming from Charles Williams (1), Keiron Williams (1), Pete Swenson (1), Claude Davis (3) and T.J. Neal (3). The defense had two fumble recoveries by Charles Williams and T.J. Neal. The defense had four pass break-ups by Keiron Williams, Tre Dickerson, Malcolm Goines and Joseph Blount.
The Sioux Falls Storm are on the road during week 16 against the Iowa Barnstormers (11-1). Kickoff is set for 7:05 PM on Saturday, June 8 in Des Moines, IA.
