Guelph Storm News Release

The Storm took on the Barrie Colts on January 11 in what turned out to be a nail bitter. Patrick Watling started off the game by netting a goal just about half way through the first period with assists going to Marc Stevens and Tyler Bertuzzi. The scoring was opened up early in the second period by Barrie when Steven Beyer assisted by Ryan O'Connor ripped one past Sparks. Minutes later the Storm answered back when Kosmachuk flew in and gave the Storm the lead bringing the Storm back on top by one, shortly after the Storm ran into penalty trouble, not that it affected then greatly as Kosmachuk netted another goal shorthanded with assists going to Zac Leslie and Robby Fabbri. The third period the game was starting to get rough and Colts forward Tyler Fawcett managed to net an unassisted goal half way through the third but the Storm managed to hold the lead and win 3-2 against the 10th ranked team in the CHL.

The Storm faced off against the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday, January 13th and the Storm looked like they might be in trouble early on when Ryan Kujawinski netted the first goal of the game for Kingston three minutes into the first which could have been an early indication of what was to come. However the Storm rallied back in the 2nd period when they scored two unanswered goals by McGinn assisted by Posa and Watling and Dickinson netted another on a powerplay half way through the second assisted by Kosmachuk and Richard. The Storm added two more unanswered goals in the third by Garlent and Mitchell second apart. The final score of the game was 4-1 for the Storm.

The Storm are away from the Sleeman Center this week with three games on the road against Peterborough on Jan 17th, Ottawa on the 18th and a rematch against Kingston on the 20th
