Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm is pleased to announce its 2012 running back group, featuring two key returners and three explosive newcomers who, while new to the indoor game, should provide plenty of spark for the defending IFL champions. James Jones and Hershel Dennis will return to the Storm, while Kevin Marshall, Andre Crenshaw and Joseph Warren are new to the Sioux Falls backfield.

James Jones will begin his seventh season with the Sioux Falls Storm. In 2011, Jones led the team with 621 rushing yards on 116 carries. He was second in the league in rushing touchdowns with 20; behind Storm quarterback Chris Dixon, who scored 21. Jones also caught 42 passes for 370 yards and six touchdowns.

Hershel Dennis returns to the Storm for his second season after playing in three games, rushing for 95 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Prior to playing with the Storm, Dennis attended the University of Southern California (USC), starting for the team at running back in 2003, when he rushed for 661 yards and four touchdowns. Dennis finished his career with 1,057 rushing yards, and won more games than any other collegiate athlete in history (70).

Kevin Marshall joins the team for the 2012 campaign after playing his collegiate ball for Shippensburg where he racked up 4,416 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns in four years. Marshall finished second in career all-purpose yards at the school, behind current Green Bay Packer John Kuhn.

Andre Crenshaw comes to the Storm after graduating from the University of Oregon in 2009. While out of the game, Crenshaw has stayed in shape playing basketball and boxing (among other things). While at Oregon, Crenshaw average 4.4 yards per carry throughout his career. Crenshaw finished with 703 yards and eight touchdowns while playing behind current NFL running backs LeGarrette Blount, Jonathan Stewart and Jeremiah Johnson. Crenshaw also average 24.3 yards per kick return during his career.

Joseph Warren played collegiate ball at Texas Southern University, where he clocked a 4.5 second 40-yard dash time as a walk-on. During the 2009 season, Warren rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on 40 carries while also catching 31 passes for 337 yards and a touchdown.

"Not only can these five guys beat you running the ball, but they also have great hands," said Storm Owner Todd Tryon. "As our offense has evolved, it's turned into a position that you must be a dual threat to make it. It's going to be a fun camp."
