(Charlottetown, PE) When the Island STORM said the playoffs were like a new season, they weren't kidding. After closing the regular season on a five game skid, the STORM defended and scored in one of their best games of the year turning in a 124-103 win over the Saint John Mill Rats to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 5 first round playoff series at Eastlink Centre on Thursday night in front of over 1,350 Fans.
It was a total team effort by the STORM as they had a franchise record 7 players in double figures. Brandon Robinson, just back from the Injured Reserve, scored 20 points to lead the STORM. Billy Rush, Nick Okorie, and Rashad Whack each scored 17 with Okorie handing out 9 assists and Rush grabbing 7 rebounds. Alex DesRoches scored 13 off the bench while Louis Birdsong and Nick Evans each scored 11.
The STORM shot nearly 50% from the floor in the game while also handing out 33 assists to the Mill Rats 15.
Saint John was led by Anthony Anderson who scored 21 with Raheem Singleton scoring 18.
The best of 5 series moves to Harbour Station in Saint John Saturday night for a 7pm starter while game 3 in the series is back at Eastlink Centre Sunday afternoon at 2pm
Joan Livingston was the 50-50 winner on the night taking home half of the total pot of over $1,300.
