(Charlottetown, PE): The Saint John Mill Rats were out-gunned, out-hustled, and out-smarted by the Island Storm, 124-103, in Game 1 of their first round, best of five series.
"For whatever reason we did not show up and it was embarassing. Hopefully it was a wake up call," said Mill Rats President & General Manager Ian McCarty. "It professional sports you have to shake it off and get ready for the next game. We'll need our "6th Man" on Saturday.
The Mill Rats host the Storm in Game 2 on Saturday night at Harbour Station.
The Mill Rats started slow, trailing 11-0, after three straight turnovers by Johnny Mayhane, but managed to get back in the game and tie it up 26-26. They took a 30-28 lead on a layup by Keith Cothran.
However the Storm poured it on and lead 67-49 at the break. Saint John would never get the deficit to single digits.
