Chicago Storm News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Dec. 30, 2008) - The Chicago Storm take on the team responsible for their lone loss so far this 2008-2009 Xtreme Soccer League season. Chicago heads to Milwaukee for a 1 p.m. match on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

Earlier this season, Milwaukee topped the Storm, 12-8, during Chicago's home opener on Dec. 20. The Storm held an 8-7 lead in the fourth quarter, but Milwaukee charged back down the stretch with two goals. The Wave (2-0) and Storm (2-1) have faced each other 25 times since 2004-2005, with Milwaukee carrying a slight edge head-to-head with 13 victories.

Chicago is coming off of an 8-6 victory against the visiting Detroit Ignition on Dec. 27. Awadalla Morad posted his second game-winning goal this season, tallying points 99 and 100 in his career. Storm goalkeeper Jeff Richey notched his 25th victory with a nine-save effort. And Andy Rosenband had a standout performance with two goals.

As always, a trip to Milwaukee carries numerous ties from the Storm's perspective. Storm third-year head coach Steve Morris had a memorable career as a Wave player, and he assisted for Milwaukee under current head coach Keith Tozer. Richey played for the Milwaukee Rampage and the Milwaukee Wave United of the United Soccer Leagues' A-League. And away from the professional scene, Storm midfielder Kyle Lance and defender Chris Brisson both played soccer for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Lance also is a Franklin, Wis., native, and on Monday he signed a contract through the remainder of the 2008-2009 XSL season.

The Chicago Storm organization is playing its fifth season of professional indoor soccer. Chicago's next Xtreme Soccer League match takes place against Milwaukee at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. The Storm's next home game is at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at the Sears Centre Arena. Storm offices are located at 5333 Prairie Stone Pkwy., in Hoffman Estates.
