Storm and Rage to Meet for First Time
April 25, 2008 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm will play their only away game before beginning a three game homestand as they travel to take on the RiverCity Rage (St. Charles, MO) on Saturday. The Storm (4-2) will try to keep up with their winning ways against a Rage (3-3) defense that has allowed the least amount of points in the UIF this season.
The Rage enters the game coming off a heartbreaking loss to the previously winless Wichita Wild last week. The Wild beat the Rage 22-15. This will be the 1st ever meeting between the Storm and Rage. The Storm have been in the same league as the Rage in four different seasons, but the two have yet to square off.
Last week was a costly one for the Rage offense as starting quarterback Anthony Fisher and backup Darrell Jackson both went down with injuries. Both players are out of the contest on Saturday. Tim Blackwell has been taking the carries the past two weeks for the Rage and has averaged 36 yards rushing and has scored two touchdowns in those games. Leading the receiving core for the Rage is UIF All-Star Hurtis Chinn. Chinn has averaged 35 receiving yards per game and has three touchdowns on the season.
The strength of the Rage is their defense. Leading the defense is linebacker Joe Bevis. Bevis has 48.5 tackles on the season, which is the best in the UIF. Defensive back Milton Proctor is leading the league in interceptions with seven. He also has 27.5 tackles on the season. UIF All-Star Terrell Washington leads the defensive line for the Rage, accumulating 31.5 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks on the season.
The game can be heard on KOOL FM 107.9 with pre-game action starting at 6:45 PM. The game can also be heard online by visiting www.siouxfallsstorm.com. Saturday?s action can be viewed by logging onto www.b2tv.com and buying the broadcast for $7. The Storm returns home next weekend when the Sioux City Bandits come to town for a 7:05 PM kickoff on Saturday. The game is the fifth consecutive SELL-OUT for the Storm.
