Rage Face Defending Champs Saturday

April 25, 2008 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
RiverCity Rage News Release

St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage will look to stop their three-game losing slide this Saturday at the Family Arena in St. Charles. However, it will be a tough go as they welcome the three-time defending United Indoor Football League champion Sioux Falls Storm to town. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Rage joined the UIF.

The Rage (3-3) lost 22-15 last week to the Wichita Wild. They lost more than the game, though. Quarterback Anthony Fisher, running back Tim Blackwell and defensive end Terrell Washington were all injured during the game and join cornerback Jabari Smith on RiverCity's injured list and will not play this week.

"The injury bug has hit us hard," said Rage head coach Ken Stills. "We can't use that as an excuse, though. Everyone should be ready to play. It is our job as coaches to have the backups ready for games. We took a look at over 20 players this week to help our roster. We believe we have made the right choices in evaluating the new players and I am excited about getting them on the field Saturday."

The Storm (4-2) saw their 40-game winning streak come to an end earlier this season but still bring an impressive offensive attack. They rank second in the league in both scoring (41 per game) and rushing (71.3 yards). Sioux Falls running back Sean Treasure leads the league with 50.7 rushing yards per game. He is also the league leader in points scored per game with 10.

"They have a great offense," added Stills. "Treasure is a tremendous runner. He's at the top of all the stats. They also have the league leader in all-purpose yards and lead the league in sacks. We will have our hands full."

The kickoff is set for 7:00 with the gates opening at 6:00 at the Family Arena. However, there will be great activities for the kids on the plaza outside the gates beginning at 5:30. Radio Disney 1260 AM will be spinning your favorite tunes, getting you wild with crazy games and much more. Plus your kids will be able to learn chorography to some of your favorite High School Musical 2 songs as well as test your High School Musical knowledge with trivia. Not only will you have a blast playing games but everyone who participates will receive prizes from Radio Disney! Also, the first 1,000 adults through the gates will receive a free Rage checkbook cover courtesy of Reliance Bank. Great tickets remain for the game with prices starting at just $5.
