Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired wide receiver Chris Davis and defensive back Vance Cuff, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. The team also placed wide receiver Amarri Jackson on injured reserve.

"This is an important time of year for the team," said Gooch. "We are a little nicked up and we need to be competitive as possible. Chris and Vance will help us to accomplish that goal."

Davis, (5-foot-10, 180 lbs., Wake Forest) a local product out of Gibbs H.S. (St. Petersburg, FL), began his professional career with the Montreal Alouettes in 2006. In 2007 he joined the New York Jets and played in two games prior to re-joining the Alouettes. From 2008-09 he played with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL and spent time with the Tennessee Titans and the Calgary Stampeders. The former Deamon Deacon then spent 2010-11 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. This past spring he spent time in training camp with the Montreal Alouettes until his release at the end of training camp.

Cuff (5-10, 178, Georgia) was invited to participate in the 2011 NFL scouting combine following successful four-year tenure with the Georgia Bulldogs. The 23-year old appeared in 33 games and recorded 61 tackles in the SEC Eastern Division. Cuff, a Moultrie, GA native, notched a career-high eight tackles versus Kentucky in 2009. He spent time in training camp with the Montreal Alouettes prior to joining the Storm.

Jackson (6-5, 215, South Florida) suffered an injury to his abdomen during the Storm's most recent game against the Philadelphia Soul and will miss a minimum of four weeks. Despite missing four games earlier this season, he recorded 77 receptions for 1,012 yards and 20 touchdowns. His 220 yards receiving, on 12 catches, against Orlando June 15 was the single highest receiving yardage total in a game this season in the AFL. Jackson is also only the sixth receiver in Storm history to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving multiple times.
