Storm Add Seven to 2020 Wide Receiver Corps
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm is excited to announce the signings of wide receivers Corey Jones, Daniel Lindsey, Ryan Markush, Damond Powell Jr., Nate Rogers, Darryl Thompson and Teddy Veal to the 2020 roster.
Jones (5'9, 165) will be entering his first season with the Storm. Corey played collegiately at the University of Toledo where he tallied 123 receptions for 1,389 yards and seven touchdowns. He was also a threat in the return game with 671 yards on kickoffs. He was named First-Team All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) as a punt returner and Second-team All-MAC receiver. Corey also spent time with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Lindsey (5'8, 185) will be entering his first season with the Storm. Daniel played collegiately at Charleston Southern University where he had 1,400 all-purpose yards along with seven touchdowns and was a Second Team All-Conference Punt Returner.
Markush (6'1, 195) will be entering his first season with the Storm. Ryan played collegiately at Eastern Kentucky University where he accumulated 96 receptions for 1,301 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was a Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree during his senior season.
Powell (5'11, 180) returns for his second season with the Storm. Damond had seven receptions for 75 yards and one touchdown during three games in 2018 while with the Storm. He played collegiately at the University of Iowa where he had 31 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns. Powell played for the Cedar Rapids Titans during the 2017 season where he was named a First Team All-IFL selection at the conclusion of the season.
Rogers (6'4, 210) will be entering his first season with the Storm. Nate played collegiately at Wayne State College where he amassed 177 receptions for 2,456 yards and 38 touchdowns. He earned All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) South Division Second Team offensive honors during his senior season.
Thompson (5'8, 175) will be entering his first season with the Storm. Darryl played collegiately at the College of Brockport where he hauled in 21 catches for 516 yards and three touchdowns. He spent the 2017 season with the Jacksonville Sharks of the National Arena League (NAL) where he garnered 45 receptions for 635 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Veal (5'11, 190) will be entering his first season with the Storm. Teddy played collegiately at LA Tech University where he accrued 74 receptions for 950 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named Conference USA Co-Newcomer of the Year, Louisiana Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-Louisiana and Second Team All-Conference USA during his junior season.
"An explosive playmaking group is what I think when I look at the list of wide receivers coming in for the 2020 season," said Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs. "Excited to see these players compete in camp for the opportunity to have the Sioux Falls Storm defend our title."
