Sioux Falls Storm News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm have added seven new players to their roster before the rematch against Cedar Rapids. The Sioux Falls Storm added Jermaine Barton, Melvin German, Caleb Holley, Bryan Keys, Carlton Watkins, Marcus Beaurem and Jon Hatton.
Offensive lineman Jermaine Barton (6'7, 310lbs) was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent during the 2015 NFL season. Jermaine played collegiately at Illinois State University where he started all 15 games at Right Tackle his senior season. Barton was selected as an All-Missouri Valley Football Conference First-Team selection.
Melvin German (6'3, 220lbs) is entering his first season as a wide receiver in Indoor Football League. German appeared in 12 games and had 32 catches for 569 yards and seven touchdowns while at Slippery Rock University. He also completed 2 of 4 passes for 36 yards and 1 touchdown.
Caleb Holley (6'2, 200lbs) was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills during the 2014 season as a wide receiver. He then later played for the Los Angeles Kiss of the Arena Football League. Holley played collegiately at East Central University where he played in nine games. He caught 55 passes for 970 yards and nine touchdown receptions during his senior season.
Bryan Keys (6'1, 300lbs) was a defensive lineman invited to spend time with the Minnesota Vikings during mini camp. Keys played in all 15 games at Minnesota State University-Mankato. He had 38 tackles with 17 solo tackles on the season. He also recorded two fumbles and had two pass deflections during his senior season. Bryan was selected to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) South Division All-Conference First Team Defense squad.
Carlton Watkins (5'10, 170lbs) is entering his first season as a defensive back in Indoor Football League. Carlton played collegiately at Tiffin University. He had 28 solo tackles with eight assisted tackles with a combined total of 36 tackles during the and also had two tackles-for-loss and broke up four passes during his senior season. Watkins was named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference all-academic team.
Marcus Beaurem (5'11, 187lbs) was signed as an undrafted free agent for the Detroit Lions as a wide receiver prior to their 2015 NFL season. Marcus has signed with the Storm for the 2016 IFL season.
Jon Hatton (6'1, 240lbs) played for the Laredo Rattlesnakes of the Lone Star Football League (LSFL) during the 2013 season. He was a team member of the San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League (AFL) in 2014.
The Sioux Falls Storm (4-1) looks for redemption against the Cedar Rapids Titans (4-2) in a week six battle on Saturday, April 9th. The game is set for a 7:05 kickoff at the Storm Shelter.
