Storm add Elfvin to replace Richey
March 5, 2009 - Xtreme Soccer League (XSL)
Chicago Storm News Release
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (March 5, 2009) -Veteran goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin signed an Xtreme Soccer League contract and joined the Chicago Storm this week to take over for injured starter Jeff Richey.
Elfvin, 28, has been training with the Storm this season, but Richey had played all 15 games before knee and calf injuries in last Sunday's 6-4 win over Detroit forced him to the sidelines.
Elfvin is 8-8 in backup duty with Cleveland (2003-04), St. Louis (2004-05), California (2006-07) and New Jersey (2007-08). He backed up Brett Phillips in St. Louis when the Steamers finished 23-7, and allowed just 3.89 goals per game in six starts.
The Storm (6-9) continue their homestand at 3 p.m. next Sunday against the Milwaukee Wave. Call 1-866-STORM81 for more information or pick up your tickets at the Sears Centre box office.
