Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have acquired quarterback John Kaleo from the Columbus Destroyers in exchange for future considerations today, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced.
"We are excited to see John back in uniform for us", Marcum said. "John brings a wealth of experience and leadership with him and we are looking for a big year out of him."
Kaleo previously played for the Storm in the 2003 when he lead the Storm to its AFL-record fifth world championship. During the 2003 season Kaleo passed for 4,188 yards and 78 touchdowns.
He spent the previous three seasons with the expansion team Austin Wranglers (2004), Los Angeles Avengers (2005) and Columbus Destroyers (2006). During that time he compiled a 26-22 record while completing 996 of 1,620 passes for 218 touchdowns and also rushing for 10.
"I am happy about the trade, I appreciate my time in Columbus, the organization and all they did for my family and I. I wish them the best," Kaleo said. "Now I have an opportunity to jump back in the saddle in Tampa to pick up where I left off and win another championship. It is a happy day. I look forward to finishing my career here and playing in front of my family and friends."
On the Storm career all-time list, Kaleo currently ranks third in pass completions (782), pass attempts (1,293), passing yards (9,971), and passing touchdowns (187).
