
STLFC Wins 3-1 over Tulsa Roughnecks FC in Preseason Friendly

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saint Louis FC won 3-1 against Tulsa Roughnecks FC in a preseason friendly at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
Tulsa Roughnecks opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through an unstoppable Rodrigo Bandeira bicycle kick before Saint Louis FC leveled the score from the penalty spot through Joaquin Rivas. The home side would add goals in the second half from Sean Reynolds and an Academy trialist to see the game finish 3-1.
The first half saw STLFC on the front foot and they created a great chance in the 6th minute as Austin Martz found Caleb Calvert at the back post with a cross but his header was blocked out of play. The next chance of the game fell to Tulsa in the 23rd minute as the ball was crossed into the box and deflected to sit up perfectly for Bandeira to bicycle kick it into the top right corner past STLFC goalkeeper Tomas Gomez. STLFC had a chance to respond in the 27th minute with a free kick at the edge of the penalty area which was taken by Lewis Hilton but drifted over the crossbar. The home side would equalize shortly afterwards in the 34th minute as a trialist was taken down by Tulsa goalkeeper Sean Lewis and Rivas stepped up to convert from the spot to see the first half finish 1-1.
The second half saw Saint Louis FC claim the lead as Reynolds was found charging into the box by Lewis Hilton's set piece cross on the right side in the 50th minute. They would double their advantage shortly afterwards in the 57th minute as an Academy trialist cut inside the defense and blasted the ball into the near post. STLFC goalkeeper Gomez would preserve the lead with a great point-blank save in the 68th minute following a set piece situation and the game would finish to see Saint Louis FC improve to 1-1-2 in preseason against USL Championship competition.
Saint Louis FC is back in action tomorrow at World Wide Technology Soccer Park at 1:00 p.m. CT as they host USL Championship expansion side Memphis 901 FC.
