Stingrays Welcome Back Farrell

The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Grant Farrell. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Farrell, 26, skated in 42 games for the Stingrays last season netting two goals and 17 assists for 19 points. The Calgary, AB native began his rookie campaign with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL appearing in 15 games earning six points (2g, 4a).

"After joining us in mid-season, Grant was relied upon heavily for a first year pro," said MacLean. "He has a well rounded game that is complimented by an excellent 'team first' attitude. Given his great work ethic, I see Grant as a valuable asset for our team."

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 180 pound defenseman skated for two seasons at Merrimack College where he was a three-time Hockey East Top Scholar Athlete and acquired two goals and 14 assists for 16 points in 58 games. Farrell spent his freshman and sophomore years at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell scoring 12 points (4g, 8a) in 37 games.
