Stingers, Stars Battle in Front of Sold out Crowd

June 12, 2022 - Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)
Edmonton Stingers News Release

EDMONTON, AB- The Edmonton Stingers and Scarborough Shooting Stars will face off at 4:00 P.M. at the EXPO Centre in front of a sold out crowd. Scarborough, a new expansion team formed this season, visits the two-time defending champs for the first ever meeting between the two franchises. The Stingers are currently tied for first place in the CEBL with a record of 4-1 while Scarborough sits in 7th place with a 2-3 record.

Former NBA guard Jalen Harris leads the Shooting Stars with 20.6 points per game, good for 4th in the league. Supporting Harris is 6'11" forward Kyle Alexander, who is averaging 15.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest. Containing Harris and keeping Alexander off the glass will be key for the Stingers relatively small lineup.

Forward Brody Clarke leads the Stingers in scoring with 13.4 points per game, one of five players averaging over 9 points per game. Since the departure of Xavier Moon, the Stingers have focused on a team-oriented offence with multiple players liable to put on a scoring outburst on any given night. Last game, Adika Peter-McNeilly led the way with 18 points against the Montreal Alliance while Edmonton native Aher Uguak chipped in 17. Fourth year veteran Jordan Baker is currently averaging a double-double with 11.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game while also averaging a team-best 5.4 assists per game.
