
Stingers help Katrina relief effort

Jackson, MI. The ABA Mississippi Stingers professional basketball team along with Morris Britton Properties have begun a relief effort for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. According to Morris Britton, team owner, "This is our state, these are our people - and we'll do everything we can to help. We hope others will join with us - or with any of the many great relief agencies in place. Here's what we've been able to accomplish in the last few days:
*Donated $3000 worth of clothes
*Donated $1000 worth of fuel
*Donated over 500 meals
*Donated 4 generators
*Donated hundreds of sheets, blankets and other types of bed linens
*Donated over 100 wash clothes and towels
*Have provide shelter for at least 4 families (including Morris' home)
*Staff has been serving the refugees at numerous shelters around Jackson, Greenville, and Picayune Mississippi
*Has sent hundreds of supplies to New Orleans.
Britton added, "We've provided aid to Greenville MS, Jackson MS, Biloxi MS, Picayune MS and New Orleans LA. We know this is a longterm situation - and we are prepared to keep going and going. We have urged all ABA teams to put together programs of a similar nature and I understand that many have already begun.
