Stingers Earn First Win of 2022 Season

EDMONTON, ALBERTA - The defending champion Edmonton Stingers picked up their first win of the season at home on Sunday afternoon with a 84-71 win over the Saskatchewan Rattlers.

The Stingers ended the game on a 15-0 run with Czech Republic native David Pekarek scoring 10 of his 13 points in the final minutes, including the game-winning three. Edmonton improves to 8-3 all-time against the Rattlers, including the playoffs.

"We're at our best when we're focusing on getting stops and running in transition," Stingers head coach Jermaine Small said. "It reminded me of our teams from the past"

Brody Clarke led the way for the Stingers, scoring 22 points on 8-13 shooting from the field and going 5-6 from the free throw line. Jordan Baker, Devon Bookert, and Jahmal Jones also reached double figures with Baker and Bookert netting 11 points and Jones scoring 10 off the bench. Baker was contributing in multiple ways, adding 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals to his stat line.
