Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Thursday that he has made a trade with the East Division's Philadelphia Wings. The Sting send their first round pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft to the Wings in exchange for their second round selection in the 2007 draft and rugged defenseman Andrew Guindon.

Last season in Philadelphia, Guindon played in 11 games for the Wings, finishing the season with 7 points (2G-5A). The 6'2", 220 lb. defender also had 31 penalty minutes and 71 loose balls.

"We're really excited about adding Andrew to our roster," said Hamley. "He's a really solid defenseman with good size that should add some real intimidation and grit to our back end. Even though he's still young, he's been in the league for a few years now, so he knows what it takes to win and what he has to do to shut down the opposition."

The upcoming season will be Guindon's sixth in the National Lacrosse League. The 24-year old spent three years with the Wings, totaling 10G-19A-29P in 36 games. Prior to his tenure in Philadelphia, he played one season for the Ottawa Rebel, who drafted him in the first round (13th overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft. In his rookie season with the Rebel in 2002, Guindon had 3G-5A-8P and a career-high 52 penalty minutes in 15 games.

Prior to playing in the NLL, Guindon was a member of the Burnaby Lakers of the BCJLA. The Vancouver, BC, native won two Minto Cups as a member of the Lakers in 2000 and 2002.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In only their second season in the Valley of the Sun, the Sting finished the 2005 regular season with a 9-7 record. They went on to win the West Division Championship before losing to the Toronto Rock in the Champion's Cup Final. For more information, please call (480) 563-7825 or visit ArizonaSting.com.
