Kootenay Ice News Release
Cranbrook, BC - Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club announced today Defenseman Cam Stevens has been selected in the 2006 Expansion Draft by the Chilliwack Bruins.
"We protected 16 players in the expansion draft. 13 of the players were born in the 1987-1989 age group and three of the players were born in 1986 (overage). Going into today we knew we were going to lose one player and we are disappointed at losing Cam. We wish him nothing but continued success in Chilliwack," continued Chynoweth.
Cam played for the Brandon AAA Wheat Kings during the 2005-2006 season.
With the expansion draft complete, Kootenay will now prepare for the 2006 CHL Import Draft where they look to draft one European. The Import draft will take place June 28.
