Chico Outlaws News Release

(Dublin, CA. January 29, 2008) The Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that the Chicago White Sox have purchased the contract of OF Steve Boggs of the Chico Outlaws. Boggs joins fellow outfielder Daniel Nava as the second member of the 2007 GBL Champion Chico Outlaws to join a major league organizations. Nava went to the Boston Red Sox in November.

Boggs, 23, a switch-hitting outfielder, had a breakout season for the Outlaws in 2007 as he set personal bests in all offensive categories. Originally signed by the Colorado Rockies as a non-drafted free agent out of San Diego State, Boggs spent three seasons in their minor league farm system advancing to Single-A before being released after the 2006 campaign. Joining the Chico Outlaws he won a starting outfield job and was a key to their championship season as he contributed with both his bat and glove. He hit .296 and was second in the GBL in hits while also stealing 17 bases. His 18-game hitting streak at the end of the first half of the season included a number of clutch hits that resulted in key wins for the Outlaws that propelled them into the playoffs.

Boggs is the second GBL player in 2008 to be acquired by a major league organization following the 17 players sold in 2007.
