Steve Bernier of the Moncton Wildcats is selected CHL Player of the Week

TORONTO, Wednesday November 3rd 2004 (CHL) - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Moncton Wildcats right winger Steve Bernier is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday October 31 after scoring four goals and seven points in three games.
Bernier is the fourth player form the Québec Major Junior Hockey League to earn the honour, after Sidney Crosby of the Rimouski Océanic (September 28th), and goaltenders Jonathan Boutin of the P.E.I. Rocket (October 5th) and Martin Houle of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (October 19th).
The 19-year-old Bernier had a pair of assists in a 4-2 win over the PEI Rocket on October 27. He scored the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques and concluded the week with a hat trick and an assist in a 9-5 win over the Rimouski Oceanic on October 31.
Bernier, a first round pick of the San Jose Sharks, has 12 goals and 21 points in 19 games this season.
Sylvain Michaud of the Drummondville Voltigeurs was the QMJHL's Defensive Player of the Week after posting a 1.00 goals against average in three wins last week.
Patrick O'Sullivan of the Mississauga IceDogs was the OHL Player of the Week after scoring four goals and seven points in three games and Tri-City Americans defenceman Clayton Stoner was the WHL Player of the Week after scoring two goals and four points in two games.
