Amsterdam Admirals News Release

NFL Europe League veteran STEFAAN ESKES has been named as the new general manager of the Amsterdam Admirals.

The 37-year-old has been with the team since its inaugural season in 1995, most recently serving as commercial director and deputy general manager. He replaces RONALD BUYS, who had been in charge of the Admirals organization since 2000.

JIM CONNELLY, managing director of NFL Europe, said: "Stefaan has been an important member of the Admirals front office for several years and we are very pleased to name him as the team's new general manager. We are looking to him to develop the Admirals' business in the coming years and we have great confidence in his ability to do that successfully."

Eskes, who becomes the fifth GM in Admirals history, spent six seasons as the team's operations director, overseeing the team's move in the Amsterdam ArenA in 1997 and serving as operations director for World Bowl IX in Amsterdam in June 2001. Eskes became the team's commercial director in 2002.

"I am relishing the challenge of leading the Admirals organization," said Eskes. "Taking over at a time when we are World Bowl champions creates extra opportunities and makes the job even more exciting. I am looking forward to building on the work we have done here over the past decade and taking the team on to greater success."

Born in Haarlem, where he lives with wife Ashley and daughter Talisa, Eskes graduated in sports management from ALO.
