Amsterdam Admirals News Release
THE Amsterdam Admirals' Week 6 home game against Frankfurt Galaxy has been switched to Sunday May 8. Kickoff in the Amsterdam ArenA will be at 3 p.m.
The team, in conjunction with the ArenA, has agreed to move the game â originally scheduled for Friday May 6 â in order to accommodate AFC Ajax in their quest for a place in the UEFA Champions League for the 2005-06 season.
Now that the Admirals are playing on the Sunday, Ajax´s vital home game against RKC Waalwijk has been moved to Saturday, allowing them first use of a brand new playing field that will be installed in the ArenA a week earlier.
Admiras general manager RONALD BUYS said: "The Ajax game is of utmost importance for next season â a win could qualify them for the Champions League. Therefore, the Admirals organization agreed to the ArenA´s request to move gamedays.
"The Admirals played twice on Sunday afternoons last season and both days were very popular with established fans and new groups. The last game of the season attracted about 16,000 people to the ArenA, the highest number since 1998. It was very popular with families with young children."
