Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
Rough Road Trip
The Youngstown SteelHounds failed to win a game on a road trip for the first time this season as they went 0-2-0 over the weekend. Friday night Kevin St. Pierre made 32 saves on 33 shots to lead the Tulsa Oilers over the Hounds by a score of 3-1. Saturday night it was Kevin Cooper who did the damage scoring two goals as the Hounds fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs by a score of 4-2.
What's On Tap: First Place on the Line vs. Kings
For the first time this season the Hounds (17-8-1, 35 points) are not in first place in the Northeast Division. They will have the chance to get it back though this weekend when they host the first place Mississippi RiverKings (18-6-1, 37 points). The Hounds and Kings will meet up on Friday and Saturday night with both games being 7:05pm starts. The two teams have met four times this season with all of those games happening in Mississippi. The Hounds are 2-2-0 against the Kings this season. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
Count to 10
One Hound who did not struggle this weekend was Jason Baird. The veteran extended his point streak to a team best 10 games. Friday night he scored the Hounds lone goal against Tulsa and on Saturday night he had an assist on Chris Richards second period goal. For the season the native of Cayuga, Ontario has seven goals and eight assists in 13 games for Youngstown. Baird came over from the Corpus Christi Rayz on November 16th.
Killer Talks Concussions
The Toronto Star recently published an article on the impact of concussions in hockey. Hounds Head Coach Kevin Kaminski and his wife Meagan explain the impact of the coach's injuries on their family and more. GO BUCKEYES!
When the Hounds take on the Kings this weekend at the Chevrolet Centre they will be wearing their special Ohio State Buckeye jerseys for both games. The jerseys will be auctioned off after Saturday night's contest. Friday night the first 1,500 fans will receive the first set of SteelHounds trading cards courtesy of Pegasus Printing Group. All weekend long the wives and girlfriends of the SteelHounds will be hosting a coat drive to benefit Amazing Grace for Battered Women and Children. Fans who donate a coat will receive a free voucher to a Hounds Wednesday night home game. For more information crash the net at SteelHounds.com or call (330) 747-PUCK.
