Hounds Finish Road Trip on High Note to get off the Skids

The Youngstown SteelHounds were finishing a 14 day, six game road trip on the skids going 0-3-1 in their last four and dropping six of their last seven going into Saturday night's game at the defending champion Laredo Bucks. The Hounds were able to get off the snide and upend the Bucks 4-1 behind two Mark Odut goals. This coming off devastating losses to division rival, Bossier-Shreveport on Thursday and then a 2-1 loss at the Corpus Christi Rayz on Friday in a game where Chris Richards and Jeff Christian were both held off the score sheet. Y-Town ends up 2-3-1 on the road trip and now sits at 16-11-7 with 39 points for third place in the Northeast division.

What's on Tap-Catch Bugs to Get into Second

It will be another playoff type atmosphere when the "Dogs of Steel" return to the Chevy Centre for a weekend stint with the division rival Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The Hounds sit just two points behind the crayfish for second place in the Northeast division and with the season series tied at one game a piece, these two games can prove to be pivotal as we get closer and closer to the CHL Playoffs.

The Veteran Connection Living it Up All Star Style

Captain Jeff Christian and line mate Chris Richards are back in Louisiana as they will start for the Northern Conference in the 2007 Dodge CHL All Star Game from the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana on Wednesday, January 17th at 8pm. For Christian this will be his second straight All Star appearance while Chris Richards will be making his fourth with his third different team. Richards has been an All Star with Austin and New Mexico during his CHL career.

Mark Odut Has Arrived

It took 13 games but Saturday night saw the presence from Mark Odut that head coach Kevin Kaminski was looking for when he signed him back in December. Odut who played for the coach while with the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League only had three assists in his stay with the SteelHounds coming into Saturday night but with the Hounds trailing 1-0 he would score two huge second period goals that would give the Hounds the lead and eventually the win.
